Happy Turkey Month Tanner Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. For the month of November I decided to cover Full House S1E9: The Miracle Of Thanksgiving, which aired on November 20, 1987. In this episode It's the first Thanksgiving without Pam and her entire family feels the effect of their loss. D. J. takes over Thanksgiving dinner, but when things fall apart - both the dinner and emotions - the boys help the girls and each other through it. I loved this episode. For anyone who has lost a loved one let me tell you the first major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas can be really rough. I know it will be for me especially this Christmas not having my Dad here. If I could I would give John Stamos an award for his acting when he breaks down in front of Danny and reveals how much he's hurting at the loss of his sister Pam. I know Uncle Jesse is supposed to be this tough, hip and cool guy, but there is nothing wrong with displaying emotion and letting your feeling be known, regardless of gender. You can't hold it in and bottle it up, let it out. Believe it or not there are others in the world who have experienced the same hurt and pain that comes with losing someone they love and were close to, know that you're not alone in that. After the episode I play a couple scenes from the show Party Of Five S1E10 Thanksgiving. I wanted to do this to shore a comparison, it's the Salinger siblings first Thanksgiving without their parents and they receive news that the drunk driver that killed their parents is being released early from jail. The kids deal with that in their own way. In the first clip the kids are deciding whether or not to go see the man who killed their parents and in the second clip Bailey goes to see Walter Alcott and unloads on him, especially when it comes to his baby brother Owen (who's about the same age as Michelle) and how he's going to be walking soon and his parents won't be there to see it and how Owen won't have any memories of their parents. That really made me think of Michelle and I wondered if Danny would have reacted like Bailey had in this scene if confronted with the drunk driver that killed his wife. Granted Bailey Salinger is a teenager anguished over his parent's deaths and Danny is a grieving husband. But still, it's all the same anger. Join me in two weeks when I cover Fuller House S2E6: Fuller Thanksgiving, which aired on December 9, 2016. In this episode the house feels overstuffed when the entire Tanner Family shows up for Thanksgiving, pushing DJs organizational skills into overdrive. Now this episode doesn't pack the same emotional punch as Full House The Miracle Of Thanksgiving but it's still fun and has a lot of heart with the whole extended family coming for Thanksgiving along with some uninvited guests that are welcome at the table.
