This episode is part one of a two-part series on research into programs for low-income fathers. For this series of episodes, Tim Lightner is joined by co-host Sharon Pizzuti from Cortland Consulting and Co-chair of the NCSEA Communications Committee. Tim and Sharon speak with guests Jay Fagan (a faculty member for the School of Social Work at Temple University in Pennsylvania and Co-Director of the Fatherhood Research and Practice Network, USA) who has focused his research on fathers and fatherhood programs; and Jessica Pearson (the Founder and Director of the Center for Policy Research in Denver, Colorado, an independent, non-profit; and Co-Director of the national Fatherhood Research and Practice Network) working for the past 40 years to do research on a variety of antipoverty programs. Jay and Jessica discuss their new book: New Research on Parenting Programs for Low-Income Fathers. In Part1 they talk about the book the background research, the findings and how this information can help child support programs in how we approach fathers and partner with fatherhood programs.
