I (Ipswich, Suffolk) Steven Gerald James Wright

Published: Oct. 26, 2019, 6:45 a.m.

In this episode, Heather is joined by the one and only Nicki Tee of the Strictly Homicide Podcast! In this episode, we discuss a serial killer with the same last name as Heather BUT we swear that there is absolutely NO relation!

Heather and Nicki discuss the Suffolk Strangler also known as the Ipswich Strangler, Steven Gerald James Wright.  His crimes (that he was convicted of) occurred between October 30 and December 9, 2006.. Steven was convicted of murdering 5 women in the Ipswich District of Sullfolk, England in February of 2009. It was announced on 19 March 2008, that Wright was to appeal his convictions, but on 2 February 2009, it was announced that Wright had decided to drop this appeal case. Steven targeted women sex workers, and although he admitted to having sexual intercourse with all five of them at some point prior to the murders, the victims did not appear to be sexually assaulted during the time of the murder. Stevens motive is still unknown, when questioned about this he seems to answer with “no Comment”. While its never been confirmed, some say that the return of his mother who abandoned her family for her lover 40 years prior, sparked his rage.

We are definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on this case, so please reach out via social media or email!
