\\nHe will baptize you with the Holy Spirit! – 2nd Sunday of Advent
\\nMsgr. Esseff asks are you crying out, “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!” Do you believe that you have been transformed by your baptism?
\\nGospel MK 1: 1-8

\\nThe beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
\\nAs it is written in Isaiah, the prophet:
\\nBehold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
\\nhe will prepare your way.
\\nA voice of one crying out in the desert:
\\n\\u201cPrepare the way of the Lord,
\\nmake straight his paths.\\u201d
\\nJohn the Baptist appeared in the desert
\\nproclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
\\nPeople of the whole Judean countryside
\\nand all the inhabitants of Jerusalem
\\nwere going out to him
\\nand were being baptized by him in the Jordan River
\\nas they acknowledged their sins.
\\nJohn was clothed in camel\\u2019s hair,
\\nwith a leather belt around his waist.
\\nHe fed on locusts and wild honey.
\\nAnd this is what he proclaimed:
\\n\\u201cOne mightier than I is coming after me.
\\nI am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
\\nI have baptized you with water;
\\nhe will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.\\u201d

\\nMsgr. Esseff served as a retreat director and confessor to St. Teresa of Calcutta. He continues to offer direction and retreats for the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity around the world. Msgr. Esseff encountered St. Padre Pio, who would become a spiritual father to him. He has lived in areas around the world, serving in the Pontifical missions, a Catholic organization established by Pope St. \\xa0John Paul II, to bring the Good News to the world, especially to the poor. He serves as a retreat leader and director to bishops, priests, sisters, seminarians, and other religious leaders worldwide. \\xa0
