A soft reboot with none of the original cast reprising the main characters. Attempting "fresh/modern" writing and themes in an attempt to modernize characters who were already timeless. Yes, the Powerpuff girls have never existed more than they do right now.

Looking back though we see strong characters and the odd moral peppered into a fun series with interesting ideas breaking down stereotypes and generally reenergizing old tropes and ideas. The Powerpuff girls were one of the best things Cartoon Network ever did and their movie is another level to the monument that will be the Powerpuff girls legacy.
