Gary Bencheghib is one impressive 25 year old. He has taken on a huge challenge to clean up Bali's rivers. By cleaning up the rivers he is hoping to stop a lot of the rubbish that ends up in the ocean. Every week he organises river clean ups that I have been a part of. His fundraising adventures have included a kayak trip down the world's most polluted river... which subsequently went went viral. As a result the Indonesian Ministry of the Environment delivered an on-camera commitment to an emergency clean up plan of the river and in December 2017, Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, announced a 7- years full rehabilitation plan of the Citarum river. We talk about why this is such a problem in Bali, what can be done to help reduce the plastic problem, who should be taking responsibility & Gary's future plans to set up 100 trash barriers in Bali by the end of 2021... and eventually to be setting them up all over the world.
