Today we are unpacking the concept of healing a relationship with food and finding peace with food and your body by looking at anti diet messages from an angle of accessibility. There is no body liberation until all bodies are safe and there is no food freedom until all bodies are fed and nourished equally. Therefore, the myth we are busting in this week\\u2019s episode is: \\u201chealing one\\u2019s relationship with food simply means healing from diet culture and learning to honor your body.\\u201d It is imperative that the work in the eating disorder field and anti diet space always unpacks the limitations that so many face in their access to food, shines a light on food accessibility, and calls out the racism that is inherent in diet culture.


We are honored to welcome Shelby Gordon @fit.flexible.fluid to this episode and help us discuss how simplifying anyone\\u2019s relationship to food - both from a fad diet perspective of \\u201ctry this and you will lose weight,\\u201d to the anti diet perspective of \\u201cjust honor your hunger and cravings\\u201d is a massive disservice to everyone who is learning their own, unique relationship with their body and food in a society with unequal access to food and a diet culture based on racist beauty ideals. Healing a relationship with food needs a community angle: feeding one another, providing for one another, honoring one another\\u2019s needs and perspectives, changing the societal messaging, offering access to resources to all, and shifting from a capitalistic, individualistic perspective to a communal one is where true healing will occur.
