b'Brent grew up in Everman TX his dad worked at millers and his mom is a CPA. He didn\\u2019t grow up riding horses and started roping when he was a sophomore in high school.\\xa0 He went anywhere and everywhere he could and learned and self taught himself riding and roping off of whatever he could find. He went to work for a man named Foy Keys, who owned a utility construction company that had been in business for 20 plus years. Foy roped calves and trained horses back when he was younger and was a big help to Brent, they would work all day come home and rope until it got dark. Brent had a great chance to buy Foy\\u2019s company in 1989 just after he got married.
\\nBrent turned it into a very successful utility construction company, he would put in long hours working all day and come home and train young horses and rope in the evenings. Rodeo all weekend long and back to work on Monday. But deep down the dream to break, start and train rope horses never left. Brent decided in 2012 that he would take a leap of faith and walk away from a company that he had built up to follow his dreams of becoming a full time trainer. Brent not only has had a chance to live out his dream but also is blessed to work and take care of a cow calf operation where he gets to combine his passion for training great ranch and rope horses and take care of cattle his second passion.
\\nBrent had a chance a few years ago to purchase a remarkable 3 yr old mare named Smokin Lena Nena better known at Cat. She qualified for the AQHA World Show and placed in the top 5. The next year Brent had a chance to sell her to Marshall Leonard from Louisiana, Marshall finished in the top 3 at the Worlds one day richest rodeo The American. Brent always has young Ranch Horses that he starts in the pasture and then transitions to the Arena.
