The \\xa0endocrine system is a series of glands that produce and secrete hormones that the body uses for a wide range of functions such as: Respiration, Metabolism, Reproduction, Sensory perception, Movement, Sexual development, Growth.

ESTROGEN

  • ESTRADIOL is a TYPE of ESTROGEN that is our "HAPPY HORMONE" & produced by our ovaries.
  • It stimulates MOOD & LIBIDO because it BOOSTS the neurotransmitter SEROTONIN (feelings of well-being & happiness-which 90% of is made in your gut) & DOPAMINE (motivation & pleasure).
  • Benefits BONES, MUSCLES, BRAIN, HEART, SLEEP, SKIN & METABOLISM.
  • Enhances sensitivity to INSULIN so it helps prevent insulin resistance.
  • Main job is to stimulate uterine lining to grow & thicken to prepare for a baby.

PROGESTERONE

  • The KEY hormone for period health & made from OVULATION.
  • Its BIGGEST job is to HOLD & NOURISH a pregnancy BUT does SO much more.
  • counterbalances estrogen
  • thins uterine lining
  • prevents breast cancer
  • boosts thyroid hormone
  • reduces inflammation
  • builds muscle
  • promotes sleep
  • protects against heart disease
  • CALMS the NERVOUS SYSTEM & makes it EASIER to COPE WITH STRESS.

CORTISOL

  • The body's primary STRESS HORMONE
  • The release of cortisol is regulated by the body's HYPOTHALAMIC-PITUITARY ADRENAL (HPA) axis.
  • Chronically high levels of CORTISOL can DISRUPT OVULATION, DECREASE PROGESTERONE & LIBIDO & cause FERTILITY problems.
