Streaming Wars Update w/ AlsoMike + NOMCast Andrew - Ep 363

Published: June 2, 2021, 3:25 a.m.

The NOMcast’s Andrew Morgan and Also Mike discuss where we’re at with the Streaming Wars after several mergers, acquisitions, and content deals amongst entertainment industry giants. In this Streaming Wars MMO / NOMcast crossover special, we begin with our analysis of all the latest news. MGM sold to Amazon, Time Warner spun off from AT&T with Discovery, and Sony made pacts with both Disney and Netflix this spring. So as we break down how these deals could change the landscape, we further the conversation by comparing the current offerings and numbers of all the streamers. Then it’s time for the speculation. Should Netflix merge with a media conglomerate or acquire a Hollywood movie studio? And if so, which studios might be available? And which studio should they buy? We cite several pieces from The Entertainment Strategy Guy at the website, What’s On Netflix, and we also do some further research to discuss and decide what we’d do and when / if we’d do it for the last 45 minutes of this episode. As always, do make sure you all subscribe to The NOMcast, the Netflix Original Movie podcast and follow Andrew on all social media. He’s at nomcastpod at his website, and on Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram. You can also follow Andrew Morgan on Twitter at jokesondrew. Otherwise, make sure to tell us at MMO what you speculate will happen in the streaming wars. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are at Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & hear us on Apple Podcasts, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you might listen.
