***This Episode Reviewing Solo has Spoilers by Pod’s End*** However, for the most part, we discuss it in broad strokes. But if you refrain from ANY spoilers, take note. Format explanation - Episode Start Rant - 2:22 More Rant but WITH SPOILERS - 12:32 Any Last Words? - 14:41 Also Mike couldn’t help himself. After seeing Solo: A Star Wars Story and some debates via twitter, we had to weigh in on the newest from Lucasfilm and Disney in this brief episode. We’re calling the format: The Devil and the Advocate. Also Mike has seen the film, and may or may not worship the prince of darkness. Meanwhile, Mike No 1 refuses to see the movie and just loves breaking balls. One of us also looks like a fat stunt double of Al Pacino, and the other pretends he is Keanu Reeves in his wildest dreams / is a genuine attorney at law blah blah, and just so happens to be tremendous at playing devil’s advocate. (Plus, it’s the title of a movie, and we have a Dad joke love for puns of any kind.) So Also Mike rages about why he hated Solo: A Star Wars Story while Mike No 1 does his damnedest to counter these arguments. It’s hopefully a lively 15 minutes of audio entertainment, and although much of the content is considered spoilery by all accounts, we try to discuss the plot in broad strokes to make it palatable for more listeners. We hope you get your movie review fix here. It’s also a break from our mining of Oscar’s past amidst the next few weeks of retrospectives. If you enjoyed our freak out, or especially if you didn’t, don’t miss our other 2 part review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in episodes 17 & 18. We haven’t always trolled the Star Wars saga as these pods prove. So if you crave some Star Wars love, do check out those episodes. Stay tuned for more MMO retrospectives as we’ll complete our 1989 Best Original Screenplay series. We covered Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society and Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing in part one, and we’ll hit the other 3 noms including Crimes and Misdemeanors, Sex Lies and Videotape, and When Harry Met Sally followed by a rerank and a look at that entire year in film. We just recorded another retrospective on the 1991 Best Actress race to be released next week, and we’ll have another Best Original Song halfisode for you as well.
