So it’s an absolute thrill to get him on the show to help us review Avengers: Endgame. We follow some of our usual formatting. In the non-spoiler section, we discuss our theater going experiences, the production values, performances, the script, and how it all should result in red carpets for this movie in our Oscar Lens. But we also have a blast working in some fun extra questions. Instead of a teaser review, we ask Nick how he’d discuss Avengers using only animal noises. Rather than completing the non-spoiler section with final thoughts, we ask each other if the film is food, what kind of food would it be? So when the spoiler section begins, we stick with our formula of equal parts analysis & ridiculousness. Bottom Line: we have fun talking to Nick Mundy about one of our favorite film going experiences in a long damn time. Yes, we discuss all our bests & worsts from the plot, and we break down some of the film’s coolest easter eggs along the way. But Mundy also admits whether or not he cried & how he ranks the thrills of the movie up with some of the best moments of his sports fandom. We compare the Awards Season with the sports world & dive into a hypothetical discussion on how pundits should cover the Oscars in non-spoilers. Then we add more substance to the conversation as we refute some of the common criticisms of Endgame before we praise the themes & statements made during that incredible finale. As usual, it’s equal parts seriousness & silliness, and we’re thrilled to find a kindred spirit in one of OUR heroes in Nick Mundy.
