Timothee Chalamet should be pissed. ***This is a Non-Spoiler Episode*** Look, we refer to some of the key Oscar Reel scenes & basic plot lines, but overall, we do avoid spoilers in these discussions. We begin by listing off all of the major snubs, and we’ll compare one or two of them to a few of these nominees later in the episode. Then we follow a very simple format. We embark on the oratorical exercise of arguing for and against each nominee. Why will each nom win? Why will each nominee lose? And we finish it all up by ranking them in a segment we’ve humbly entitled, Perfecting Perfection. Mahershala Ali from Green Book, Adam Driver from BlacKkKlansman, Sam Elliott from A Star Is Born, Richard E. Grant from Can You Ever Forgive Me(?), and Sam Rockwell from Vice - we break down all their performances & their chances at Oscar gold in this episode. It’s a non-spoiler exercise, and this was more difficult than it appeared. But we were able to avoid spoiling any of these films. So you can click play without any remorse. Just understand we may frame a few scenes or movements of the films with a brief reference here or there. We’ve recorded 3 days in a row thus far this week. There’s a snowstorm coming our way, and we’re afraid of nature coming between the Mikes. So we’re glad we could get a few episodes out sooner than later. Though weather permitting, we do have an aggressive release schedule in mind for the next 25 days leading up to Oscar Night. Our MMO Weekly variety show drops every Monday. We’ve covered the Globes, Critics Choice, PGA’s, and SAG’s in the MMOW’s of our last month. This Monday will discuss the fallout from the Super Bowl, where last year we got a bunch of new trailers & a Netflix movie event. So we’ll wait and see what Super Monday has in store for us. These Category Overviews will continue until we’ve broken down & previewed you on all of the major nominees. We have 3 more acting categories, best director, the screenplays, animated feature, and Best Picture all on the schedule still. We started things off with an episode on Lady Gaga’s Best Original Song category, and there’s much more fun to be had with these. There are two more Oscar Sprint Profiles on our schedule with At Eternity’s Gate and Cold War, and we’ve already reviewed over 40 films of 2018 with this format. We’ve been booking more guests that we’re crossing our fingers will be able to record with us in the coming weeks and months, and we’re still swooning after our thoroughly fun experience speaking with CollegeHumor’s Brennan Lee Mulligan. And finally, we will wrap up your 2018 year in movies in two major ways: by covering Oscar’s big night with a final preview & review / recap. Then of course, our stay tuned for our Mike, Mike, and Oscars award show as we’ll pick our own top 10’s, 5’s, and bests of the year. As always, let us know what you think of these categories. Who’s your pick for Best Supporting Actor? Did we forget any notable snubs? We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail.
