We dish out hot takes like Joey’s Burgers. We research plenty of telling Oscar stats and may share too much information as we breakdown some of our theories. It’s MMO Weekly, and boy, do we have some reactions to the Critics Choice Awards! Our format is simple. As we always do on our MMOW weekly variety show, we include some of your favorite drops, signaling our usual talking point segments, and as we did with the Globe reactions last Monday, we taper those segments to this Sunday night’s award show. The intro reacts to the biggest story of the night as Roma won Best Picture, Director, Foreign Film & Cinematography to cement it’s status as a Best Picture contender at the Oscars. But stay tuned until the end of the show & our featured Oscar Race section to see if we now think it’s moved beyond “contender” status and has become even more formidable as the “frontrunner.” In between the Roma talk though, What We’re Watching becomes a section on what we just watched. So this is where we comment on how we felt about the broadcast, Taye Diggs’ hosting prowess, the special presentations, and highlights / lowlights from the night’s entertainment values. News of the Week becomes a segment on some of the biggest wins of the night. The Best Actress race just got much more interesting with a tie, and we breakdown how the winners, Glenn Close and Lady Gaga campaigned to the Academy in their acceptance speeches. Then we discuss how the Best Actor race has finally taken shape before diving back into that Oscar Race Update where we have a ton of crossover stats and link you to what the Critics Choice Awards have meant to the Academy in years past. Let us know what you think. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail.
