In January 2009, Smith, then a Detachment Commander for the 3rd Special Forces Group, headed to Afghanistan. It was during this deployment that Smith lost several teammates, with one really hitting him hard. He shares this story and how difficult it was to deal with the aftermath. Blayne learned so much from his time serving with the men on his team and the importance of trust.
