After all, these men were those not already following a Rabbi and were, as such, likely rejected as candidates to do so. Jesus's invitation is actually a great honor. Their choice to follow him immediately is easy to understand in that context. But remember that they left their old life behind. And their walk with Christ brought pain, hardship, and, for many, untimely death. Following Christ is hard. The gain is unimaginable.
