Ripple 2: Prayer

Kingdom Tide --- Psalm 42:1-11 We realize that the imagery of water we’ve chosen for our series has taken on more poignant meanings this week. As Matt delivered this message, the coast had just been battered and waters continued to rise throughout the state as a result of Florence. On the heels of the vision of the nourishing stream of Scripture from last week, we acknowledge the antagonism of water today. The psalmist is familiar with being pursued by violent waves and breakers. But in this passage prayer is dependent communication; it is sharing the despair of the present with hope and faithfulness for the future. It is an invitation to move from desperation to dependence.
