I AM

Exodus 3:1-15 The Burning Bush encounter is one of the most well-known passages both in the book of Exodus and in the whole Bible. It's important to think about why it is happening at all. Why is Moses being told to return to Egypt? Because he fled. He identified with the Israelites, even so far as to commit murder to protect them. But he ran from this tragedy. Yet forty years later, that tragedy became training. Here is God redeeming the exile, purifying Moses with God's Holiness, and revealing God's most sacred name to God's people: YHWH (Yahweh), or I AM in English.
