The text we explore together is Luke 10:25-37, a familiar story only found in Luke's Gospel: The Parable of the Good Samaritan. An expert in the law asks Jesus two questions that provoke the telling of the parable: What must I do to inherit eternal life? Who is my neighbor?

Jesus's parable confronts our tendency to limit our love to people like us. It pushes us to enter into situations of suffering with vulnerability and compassion. It invites us to enter into God's Kingdom by becoming a neighbor to anyone in need.
