Hey Wonderlings, Well, we did it, we finished Season 1. Happy Memorial Day Weekend and what better way to celebrate it than with the final two episodes of Season 1 Episode 5 The Phone Call which aired on April 12, 1988 and Episode 6 Dance with Me which aired on April 19, 1988. In The Phone Call we see Kevin agonize over making his first phone call to a girl, but, oh no, not just any girl, this is the one and only dream girl Lisa Berlini. The type of girl who's so pretty; she most likely won't even know your name. During this episode I mention my many failed attempts at getting my crushes to notice me, and the times I faked sick to cut out early at school, and my first ever phone call to my boyfriend(now husband) that lasted 8 hours. In Dance With Me: Kevin figures his almost four minute phone call to Lisa Berlini is an automatic in for him to go to the dance together although she considers the scrap of paper contract that was passed between them null and void when she in no hesitation accepts Brad Gaines (a young dreamboat Mark Paul Gosselaar)request to be her date to the dance. Right away with awkwardness in the air she puts Kevin in the friendzone. Fresh out of prospects, Kevin and suddenly anxiety allergic Paul due to one Miss Carla Healy go stag to the dance as Kevin sees once and for all Winnie slipping through his fingers and into Kirk McCray's arms. I also bring up my experience at an 8th grade dance that is not that surprisingly a forgetful affair. Ah, young adolescent unrequited love. Can you smell the raging teenage hormones in the air? So next week join me in a now weekly podcast as I venture forth into Season 2 with Episode 1 Heart of Darkness as Kevin and Paul take a walk on the wild side after meeting bad boy Gary (played by young and shaggy blond-haired Breckin Meyer) in (gulp) detention.
