Happy Friday Wonderlings! Angela Bowen here, the host Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. I was really surprised by this episode. I originally thought I wouldn’t like it, but it really focuses on an issue that a lot of people (myself included) deal with on a regular basis, body issues. S6E16: Nose Airdate: February 24, 1993 In this episode Kevin's friend Ricky thinks me may have finally found true love with a new girl named Hayley. The only problem is, Kevin and the guys can't help but make fun of the size of her nose. I really liked the lesson from the english teacher on the book The Catcher In The Rye and tying it the the kids and having them express their innermost fears and worries of themselves. Only one soul is brave enough to read her reply. Haley, the new girl who is dealing with self conscience body issues do to the size of her nose. I liked how at first she tries to laugh it off and make fun of herself like it doesn't bother her, but then she gets raw and honest about how she hoped to get cosmetic surgery to reduce the size of her nose when she was 14, but the doctor discouraged it because her nose was still growing. Her being open catches the eye of the class president and captain of the football team Brett Davis. Which surprised me because I thought he was going to be a typical arrogant jock that tv and movies tend to display them as. Ricky who sees her inner beauty is pressuring himself to break off his date with her, for fear of a ruined reputation by being seen with her and being laughed at by everyone. Ricky lost some points for this action in my mind. Next week S6E17: Eclipse, which aired on March 3, 1993. In this episode Kevin and his classmates take a bus trip to the planetarium to witness the solar eclipse. On the trip, Kevin and Winnie have a fight after he calls her "too perfect" while Chuck gets locked in a restroom, leaving him behind. Have a great weekend everyone!!
