b'Hey Everyone,\\n\\nAngela Bowen here, the host of She\'s a Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.\\n\\nKicking off 2021, with Season 2.\\n\\nToday, I covered S2E1: Chewed Out, which aired on September 13, 1986.\\n\\nIn this episode Jamie and Reggie, learns a sobering lesson by, smoking cigarettes and chewing tobacco to elevate their freshman status in junior high.\\n\\nFor being one of those "Very Special TV Episode" it was pretty descent.\\n\\nJamie\'s in junior high and he and Reggie want to impress some older boys so they decide to take up smoking which according to Peter (forgot his last name)(the youngest kid from Eight Is Enough, I think) is already considered "kid stuff" he introduces them to chewing tobacco (one of the grossest habits out there, my Dad was big into chewing that garbage, it was nasty).\\n\\nOf course we all know where this leads, a bad habit and serious health related consequences need to be addressed to get the point across to kids that this stuff will kill you, but not before you end up getting cancer first.\\n\\nI remember watching this as a kid in 1990 when I was 8, Jamie seemed so much older to me at 12. I lived for these serious TV Episodes growing up and as I became an adult I realized some of these so called serious episodes were kinda corny, but got the message across.\\n\\nHow Jamie even comes to have the cigarettes in his possession is laughable, Ted found them on someone\'s desk at work and thought it was ok to swipe them because he was stressed out about upcoming work evaluations. Apparently he used to smoke a long time ago, but the way he\'s crying and moaning about needing "just one little puff" you\'d think he quit a week ago.\\n\\nHe even makes a joke after Joan throws the cigarettes in the trash as he says "great, let the garbage can get cancer". This feels like foreshadowing to me.\\n\\nA side plot of Ted moving Vicki\'s cabinet into his and Joan\'s bedroom leads to no sex for him because Joan can\'t take Vicki watching them (even though she\'s in her cabinet, she can still hear them) Believe me no one wants those noises repeated via Vicki at the breakfast table for Jamie\'s ears.\\n\\nJoin me next month when I cover S1E2: Money, Money Money, which aired on September 20, 1986.\\n\\nIn this episode Jamie tries to buy the love of a pretty classmate.\\n\\nHave a great week everyone!'
