Silver Spoons: S1E1: The Pilot

Published: Sept. 1, 2018, 6:02 p.m.

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of the brand new podcast Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: A Silver Spoons Podcast. S1E1: The Pilot Airdate: September 25, 1982 In this episode Millionaire Edward Stratton III, an overgrown child on the verge of bankruptcy, learns that he has a son, Ricky, from a previous marriage. I enjoying covering this podcast episode and the chemistry between Ricky Schroder and Joel Higgins is both phenomenal and magnetic. They really click. If you watched The Wonder Years you’ll recognize Lou as Coach Cutlip. Erin Gray as Kaye Summers is the voice of reason with Edward basically telling him to man up and being what Ricky needs, a father. Leonard Lightfoot as Edward’s advisor helps keep him grounded and his feet on the ground and trust me Edward needs all the help he can get between Kate, Ricky, and Leonard. Jason Bateman as Derek even though we saw him for only a moment can already tell he seems like the male version of Margaux Kramer from Punky Brewster. Derek’s harsh words might hurt Ricky but really whatever he dishes out, Ricky gives back double. Next week on the podcast I'll be covering S1E2: Boys Will Be Boys, which aired on October 2, 1982. In this episode Ricky is pleased that Edward lets him get away with everything - until Derek tells him it means he doesn't care about Ricky. Edward has to show Ricky that his relaxed attitude toward discipline doesn't mean that he doesn't love him. I know I’m gonna have a great time covering this show and hope you all have a fun time listening!
