War seems simple enough. People want what others have and which they will not give up without a fight. Given enough people on both sides we have a war. In this sense a war is simple a mugging with lots of people involved. But understanding ought to go beyond a mere description. But if we cannot understand the dynamics of a mugging, how are we to understand war.
