If land has a carrying capacity, then how is immigration a sane response to an aging or/and declining population? Do we expect the new migrants not to age, or do we expect to find more immigrants to come and care for the previous immigrants as they age? At what point does the process end or self-destruct as it eventually must, unless we adopt a different approach to aging populations other than increasing the size of the population.
