This week Jeff speaks with Rev. Ryan Canaday, Pastor & Executive Director of FREE Spiritual Community. Ryan shares his struggles with alcoholism and how getting sober and sharing his story opened a new world for him. Despite the fear of the stigma and judgement, Ryan made the decision to go public with his story. In 2018 Ryan and his wife, Tami, began to think about what it would be like to start a faith community that centers on issues of addiction and recovery? They wanted to break the silence of addiction and create space for healing, recovery, and spiritual connection. They started FREE and began holding gatherings in their backyard. Their community has since grown and expanded to include the FREE Recovery Cafe. Ryan shares that he found his "why" - to help others find God and beauty in the midst of mess and brokenness.
