Jesus in A Course in Miracles in The Song of Prayer says prayer that comes from asking-out-of-need is the most beginning step in prayer and comes from a place of lack and limitation. These prayers are usually not very effective because when you ask for something from a place of lack, what you are really asking for is more lack (because the words in prayer do not matter), and so it seems as if your prayer is unanswered. True prayer is God's greatest gift—a way to reach up to Him and rejoice and give thanks for everything you have. In true prayer, you don't ask for anything. Are you ready to learn a new way to pray?
