Today's guest and my friend, Dr. Sarah Williams shares her heart and experiences as a woman, daughter, mother and Dr. of mental health with us on these times we are facing currently.  Being Black adds a depth of perspective to each role Dr. Sarah navigates, which has sharpened her focus and empowered her voice to share with what she calls, "Emotional Assertiveness."

Dr. Sarah shares authentically, powerfully and openly about her childhood experiences with racism, having to silence her own rage and upset in order to maintain educational and professional opportunities. She shares with us the tacit and very real considerations she has as a mother of a Black teenage son and daughter- and fears for their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual safety and health.

Our conversation gets real and raw immediately, as Dr. Sarah brings us face-to-face with the truth that BIPOC faces acutely different experiences and standards of treatment, access, and interpretation of what it is to be human; and it isn't the white ideal.

We also dive into mental health, mindfulness, meditation and how important it is to care for ourselves with intention; especially now.

Her final word?

"Love yourself."
