This week we get to talk about SCREAM!!!!!! This is such an incredible film that broke boundaries, it was new, innovative, well written, great cast, and directed by Wes Craven! What more could you ask for? If you have never seen this film, you need to, like right now, you can watch it before listening to this week's episode if you'd like, I will wait...
I actually recorded this episode in early September but I have waited to release it until now because October is the perfect time, even though this film was released in December of 1996. I wasn't able to see this film in theaters as I was still underage and don't think my parents would've taken me, but I did rent it from good ole' Blockbuster shortly after if was released on VHS, yes I said VHS. I don't think my parents knew what I was renting, and I honestly I just saw horror and was all for it, plus it's Drew Barrymore on the cover, little did I know, little did anyone know. I actually have the Scream movie poster hanging up in my guest room, right next to Mean Girls and a floor to ceiling Game Night I was lucky enough to get from a movie theatre. At least for me, Scream will always be one of my favorite horror films, it is a classic, it was a game changer. This film spawned 2 sequels that were fairly close to each other, then they released a 4th installment and reinvented themselves again after seeing what horror films had become. I'm excited to say that they have announced a 5th film in the franchise and I'm sure it will be amazing, and they have announced that the original core cast will be back to reprise their roles, too bad COVID has pushed the dates back on filming and releasing.
Scream Themed Drink:
Drink beer, I mean its what these teenagers are drinking, so why not partake in what they are. Cheap beer, good beer, whatever you'd like, mix it up. In the can, in the bottle, in a red solo cup because we've seen movies, we've been to parties, make it feel like you are a part of the movie.
