Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask (S1E1, S1E2)

Published: July 14, 2020, 2 p.m.

For this week we watched and discussed another children of the 90s favorite, Goosebumps. We chose to watch The Haunted Mask Parts 1 and 2, well 3 of us did, the other clicked on The Haunted Mask II and ended up very confused until we realized what she had done. Its been awhile since I have watched this show, I loved watching this series along with Are You Afraid of the Dark? and its nice to go back and reminisce. Goosebumps is available to watch on Netflix, and if you don't have Netflix, they do have some episodes on YouTube. The Haunted Mask was written by R.L. Stine and directed by Timothy Bond with a rating of 8.7/10 on IMDb. This was released as a Halloween special on Fox and was watched by over 14 million people! This is insane to think about, I mean this was a kids show and in 1995, I guess this goes to show you that people want family friendly content. I can't speak for others, but I have tried to add shows from my childhood to my collection of DVDs for when (or if) I ever have children to make sure I raise them right with 90s nostalgia.

While we didn't discuss a specific drink on this episode, which I failed to look for one before hand, I have found a few for you to enjoy. I'll even add a virgin option for if you want to watch this episode with your kids.

Goosebumps Punch (Family friendly):

This recipe is from sugarandsoul.co. Just mix together some lemon-lime soda (or ginger ale) and green food coloring in a large punch bowl. Then add in some rainbow sherbet (or lime sherbet) and some gummy worms and you’ve got a super fun punch!

  • 3 liters Lemon Lime Soda
  • 12 drops Green Food Coloring
  • 1 quart Rainbow Sherbet
  • 30 Gummy Worms
  • Combine cold lemon-lime soda and food coloring in a large punch bowl and stir.
  • Add in scoops of sherbet until the package is empty.
  • Add 18 of the gummy worms to the punch bowl, reserving the rest for garnish when you serve each cup.
  • Use a ladle to transfer to each cup and serve.

Goosebumps:

This is from Cocktail Builder, but I'm also providing an alternative version that I think will provide alcohol made with real fruit.

  • 1/3 oz of Blueberry Schnapps (Or Western Son Blueberry Vodka)
  • 1/3 oz of Peach Schnapps (Or Western Son Peach Vodka)
  • 1/3 oz Original Western Son Vodka
