6 deaths, thousands of acres and hundreds of buildings mostly homes destroyed. Many evacuees are now homeless and living like refugees in shelters. Ministry opportunities abound and prayer needs are tremendously needed as well. Acres Burned - Containment: 95,368 acres - 17% contained Structures Threatened: 5,012 Structures Destroyed: 874 destroyed, 175 damaged Not everything needs to be so heavenly minded that we're of no earthly good but it is possible to cover it all in moderacy but it's heartbreaking to see so much on social media concerning everything under the sun except ministry. Please keep Shasta County in prayers and please mail some good stuff to this address. They list their needs. If you would like to give, find a way. God is Love! We are overwhelmed by the support of this community. We have received so many messages, and comments with questions and how people can help. Here is a response to these questions that have been coming in.... 1) Shasta College evacuation site is at capacity. Our Church CrossPointe Community Church and facilities are open to the public as a Red Cross Evacuation Shelter. 2) The Red Cross has masks available. 3) Regarding food donations that people want to make: The Salvation Army is handling all the food (please contact them). And from time to time restaurants bring some food. 4) We are accepting volunteers in small groups (2-4) to help clean bathrooms, setting up cots, organizing and taking out trash, and just look for what needs to be done. Let us know if you would like to volunteer for a 2 hour time slot. Red Cross does everything but clean and we have a lot of people which means a lot of cleaning. We need: Coverage for Tuesday and Wednesday: 8-10am 10-noon Noon-2pm 2-4pm 4-6pm 6-9pm 5) Evacuees, yes there is a place for small pets on the baseball field 6) To receive our shelter services, all you have to do is just show up here! 7) If you are looking for someone who might have evacuated.
