Highlights from the "Domestic Violence Counts 2009" Survey

In this Podcast, Francis Olaveson, a Laura's House shelter staff member, will share share highlights from the “Domestic Violence Counts 2009” survey, a 24-hour census of Domestic Violence Shelters and Services, produced by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). The goal of the 24-hour census was to gather an unduplicated count of adults and children seeking domestic violence services within a single day. Laura’s House is a community-based non-profit organization that empowers individuals and families to lead violence-free lives. We offer a comprehensive range of services including safe refuge for women and children escaping violent homes. We also offer legal support services, counseling, community education, and prevention workshops for teens on healthy relationships and dating violence. Our mission is to change the social beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.
