Lessons of the Fukushima disaster

Today marks the tenth anniversary of Japan's worst peacetime disaster. The tsunami which hit the coast of Japan resulted in over 22,000 deaths, and the meltdown of 3 of the 4 reactors at the Daiichi Nuclear Plant. Its legacy includes enormous amounts of radioactive waste water needed to cool the damaged reactors, which are stored in mounting numbers of tanks, and three reactor sites which cannot be repaired. And yet, Japan continues to push forward investing in nuclear power.
