Before the war the residents of the Falkland Islands were living a quiet life, but were struggling to survive as the price of their primary commodity, wool, plummeted. The war brought attention to their struggles and the UK poured in aid and the locals were given more autonomy of their lives and the valuable fishing rights around the islands.
