Three separate exploration ships made their way north up the WA coast in the half of the 19th century. They were adding to the coastal mapwork of Matthew Flinders. On board each ship was one Aboriginal man, who acted as an intermediary between the Royal Navy explorers, and the northern WA Aboriginal people.
