Ep31: COVID-19 Updates

Published: March 18, 2020, 11 p.m.

Following the World Health Organization's announcement of the novel coronavirus or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic, governments all around the globe began taking pre-cautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Citizens are  being asked to cooperate in what WHO describes as "flattening the curve", or simply the avoidance of overwhelming healthcare systems all over the world and slowing down the transfer of the virus from one person to another. This is why people are asked to stay indoors, practice social distancing, and avoid crowded places. Frequent hand washing is also emphasized.

The Philippines has seen a rise in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past weeks, which has prompted the government to respond by placing the entire Luzon under enhanced community quarantine. This means strict home quarantine to all households, except for a few belonging to industries supplying basic necessities and required services -- our frontliners. This short episode is basically just a quick update about the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines.

I hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
Spread love and kindness, especially during these times.
