Did Jesus Eliminate Torah?

Is traditional Christianity correct in teaching that Jesus did away with the law? While reading about the healing of the leper by Jesus just as He descended the mountain after giving the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructed the healed leper to obey the Torah as it related to him being made whole. This passage brings in to question the centuries old teaching that Jesus did away with Torah. Or does it?
