Everything Old Is New Again

In between our aging analog tape collections and our tapeless broadcast future, lies the challenges of transforming television programs into digital data that can have many lives after broadcasting. The key to long-term program access is not only digitization, but also preservation -- a problem not just for archivists anymore, but involves producers, editors, techies and engineers, and many others. This session will examine some of the basic issues associated with digital preservation and longevity, which will turn us all into digital archivists any day now.
