Published: April 20, 2012, 10 a.m.

Edrisa Sanyang has a Master of Science Degree in Public Health (Health Promotion) from Leeds Metropolitan University and is currently pursuing his MPH in Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa. He is a national Gambian who has worked with different communities in the West Coast region of the Gambia, where he designed and piloted a model latrine that has been replicated for several communities. He headed a project with ChildFund, an international charity, on improving the water supply and sanitation of deprived, vulnerable and excluded families in the Western Region of The Gambia. Edrisa has also worked as part of the team that developed the Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation Manual for Environmental Clubs in schools organized by UNICEF's WATSAN Project. Edrisa will address issues related to drinking water contamination in The Gambia, which has one of the highest accesses to safe drinking water in the West African sub-region, even though water related diseases still remain a major public health challenge.
