The Iowa City Farmers Market kicks off its first "Chef at the Market" program. Local chef Melissa ("Mo") Morgan uses ingredients from the Farmers Market to help teach market-goers how to build their culinary skills and create fresh new dishes in their own kitchens. Morgan, 30, is an aspiring chef who was born in southern California, moved to Iowa City a decade ago, and has been employed in the local food industry for almost nine years. Now a line chef at One Twenty Six, Moonrakers, and Hearth -- three downtown Iowa City restaurants owned by Matthew Chackalacka whose kitchens are directed by Head Chef Tony Walsh -- she has also worked at a number of other area establishments, including Pita Pit, Monica's, Outback Steakhouse, and Graze.
