The Flood of 2008 destroyed the Animal Shelter on Kirkwood Ave. Six years later, the community gathers to begin a new phase and new building in the Animal Care and Adoption Center on Napoleon Lane. The City of Iowa City and surrounding Johnson County communities, along with the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, were able to bring the needed funds together to proceed with this project. Along with monies from FEMA, the facility will be built as a state-of-the-art structure to provide care and adoption of animals for years to come.
