In this Intel Conversations in the Cloud audio podcast: This week we welcome back Todd Christ, Enterprise Solutions Architect at Intel, to discuss Intel Select Solutions for Google Cloud’s Anthos. Google Cloud’s Anthos is a scalable hybrid cloud solution, built with VMware vSAN and powered by Intel processors, storage, and networking technologies. Hybrid cloud solutions are increasing important to help businesses meet regulatory needs, control data placement, and incorporate existing equipment securely.

Todd discusses how the new solution stems from years of engineering collaborations between Intel and Google. The result is a pre-tested solution, validated from the hardware up through the firmware stack to the vSAN software and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) On-Prem. The new Intel Select Solutions for Google Cloud’s Anthos is optimized for 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and gives customer’s flexibility wherever their cloud resides. A big goal of the hybrid model is to help customers manage data easily across on-premises and cloud environments. Todd also explains how Anthos works with existing systems, and the benefits of managing clusters across on-premises and multi-cloud environments with a single pane console view.

Data continues to grow by leaps and bounds, with the majority being generated on-premise. The future of hybrid cloud will see big innovations in data placement to give users more choice and flexibility.
