b'Actor, James Moses Black currently stars as U.S. Army colonel, Colonel Murduch in the new Amazon Prime\\u2019s TV series, S.O.Z: Soldados o Zombies (which is in English) which premieres on August 6 and currently has a supporting role in Vertical Entertainment\\u2019s Lansky starring Harvey Keitel and can next be seen in STX Entertainment comedy, Queenpins starring Kristen Bell and Vince Vaughn opening in theaters nationwide on September 10 and also guest stars 2 upcoming episodes of Liza On Demand starring Liza Koshy which airs on You Tube Premium and just completed the indie feature Blackline: The Beirut Contract.

Most recently Black co-starred as rogue cop Deacon Brown, opposite Naomie Harris and Frank Grillo in director Deon Taylor\\u2019s crime drama, Black and Blue from Screen Gems. He also recurred as Reverend Hawley, a neighborhood preacher/counselor who inspires Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown) to continue his run for office in NBC\\u2019s wildly popular This is Us series, and portrayed Brother Jamal in the F/X series, Snowfall. He was Sasha the henchman to Richard Dreyfuss\\u2019 character in director/star Cuba Gooding\\u2019s drama, Bayou Caviar, and he was Coach Oz in writer/director Eric Champnella\\u2019s sports drama, Alex and Me.He made his television debut in The Orlando Jones Show and hasn\\u2019t stopped working since. Recent highlights include Roots (as Kizzy\\u2019s adversary, Pastor Benjamin Lyon); and recurs on Nashville, as Pastor Lewis and most recently 24: Legacy and recurs on Greenleaf which airs on the Own Network as Nigel the choir director.

His additional television credits include: The Practice, The King of Queens, Gilmore Girls, JAG, The Unit, Ugly Betty, Entourage, Dexter, Life, Southland, Shameless, Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds, Grey\\u2019s Anatomy NCIS: New Orleans and Cold Case, in which he played Gerald Carter, Michael B. Jordan\\u2019s father.

Black made his feature film debut as a CONTROL prison guard in Get Smart. His additional feature credits include: Remembering Phil, Pimpin\\u2019 Pee Wee, Frogtown, Bad Ass 3: Bad Asses on the Bayou, Get Hard, Terminator Genisys, The Runner, American Ultra, Midnight Special, and the upcoming features Sex Guaranteed, Mind Puppets, Cut Off and Blackline: The Beirut Contract.

A native of Portsmouth, Virginia (his dad served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years), Black later moved to Pittsburgh, where he graduated from South Hills High School. As far as his performing career goes, he says that he \\u201cgot the bug straight out of the womb.\\u201d One of his first memorable roles was the 6th Grade non-speaking part of Snoopy in A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Adept at comedy, he started performing stand-up routines at the University of Minnesota, before he transferred to Central State University in Ohio, where he received his degree in business. He was already performing at Andrew Ford\\u2019s Comedy Club in Columbus, Ohio, and traveled with Russell Simmons\\u2019 HBO comedy tour.

Black later won the role of Boggs, the creepy convict in the play adaptation of The Shawshank Redemption, before departing for San Francisco, where he studied at the American Conservatory Theater.'
