Home is where we’re living in the moment: Garry Donaghy (Scotland)

Published: Feb. 2, 2021, 5 a.m.

Today, I'll be talking with Garry Donaghy. He's originally from Scotland, but, as he says, he no longer has a Scottish accent, so that's why most people can understand what he says. He lived in Japan for a few years and moved to Toronto in 2019. Canada is the fourth country he lives in, so he now realizes that home is where we're living in the moment. You might say that I’m a professional immigrant! I speak English & Japanese, and am trying to remember the French I learned in high school 2 decades ago..! So far, ca va bien. In Dec 2019 I moved from Tokyo to Toronto with my wife and our dog, and since April I’ve been working (from home!) in my career field (Supply Chain), as a Project Manager for Metro, the major Canadian grocery retailer. I have a Medium blog where I share job-seeking insights and advice for recent arrivals called "The Canadian Newcomer". I’m very active on LinkedIn and have my own hashtag, #GarryGuides. Feel free to connect with me or ask any questions you may have about life in Canada, moving here, or finding work in Toronto!
