Season 2 Episode 12: AAVE: They Want The Rhythm, Not The Blues

Published: Feb. 10, 2022, 12:17 p.m.

Our roots are deep, BUT why are our limbs chopped down and the fruits of our labor stolen? African American Vernacular English [AAVE] is a LEGITIMATE language and isn't just for #trendy videos where Black people are "imitated."  . . A multilingual scholar, culture enthusiast, and genuine Animal Planet lover all in one! My good southern friend DJ (greenlocd90sbaby) joined me as company as we explored AAVE.  . . We didn't hold back a LICK on this episode and proudly used AAVE all through the episode. Seeing that Saturday was #Juneteenth, it was only right to lay it all out this way.  . . Let's continue to embrace AAVE and Black culture without waiting for a co-sign outside of our community. Our stories of creating something out of nothing deserve to be shared. They don't have to come in compact packages to be more digestible to onlookers. *Message* We hope you enjoy this episode!  --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/anire-glenn/support
