#13- Emily Calvin on Nourishing Ourselves and Having Happy Bellies

Published: June 12, 2020, 10 a.m.

Emily Calvin, life long feminist and activist, once bought into the belief that “nothing tastes as good as thin feels”. She has since liberated herself from diet culture by paying attention to her body and allowing it be nourished with more food and plenty of love.

Emily is the founder of Happy Belly Project, a fat and body positive Instagram account focused on the beauty, importance and acceptance of our bodies with the focus on the belly as the root of acceptance.

She stumbled up on the name when she started to witness happy bellies around her and realized that happy bellies are proud, nourished, filled and accepted. Thanks to the Happy Belly Project, Emily is now embracing her own belly with kindness and compassion.

On the podcast, Emily also shares her passion for advocating and supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Her clarity around her work came from her own personal experience and continues to be fueled by the injustices she witnesses and how violence has the ability to devastate and destroy lives.

And, share your belly there! Like I did!
