The word Om is defined by Hindu scripture as being the primordial sound of creation. It is the original vibration of the universe. From this first vibration, all other vibrations are able to manifest.  

Om is a great tool for manifesting positive things in your life. Chanting Om calms your mind and helps you bring in positive energy into your body. You can control your anger by chanting Om on a regular basis. Stress lies in your mind and chanting Om can release stress from your mind. www.hinduamerican.org   

What are the 4 parts of Om?  Ancient Vedic traditions teach that the audible sound which most resembles and evokes in us the unstruck sound is the vocal syllable OM. This ancient mantra is composed of four elements: a sequence of three vowels: A, U, and M, and the silence which begins and ends the sequence, the silence which surrounds it.  www.hinduamerican.org
