b'Poorhouses, which were also known as almshouses or poor farms, were not a place that you wanted to end your days in. These places were tax supported residential institutions that took in those who could not support themselves. In these facilities; people were often given not enough food to eat, and what they were given were often unpalatable. They were forced into crowded and unsanitary conditions, where they had to do hard labour or domestic labour as a punishment created for those who suffered from poverty. As a result; many people became victims of this system, and one of these was a lady named Rhoda Derry.

So settle in my spooky friends\\u2026you are about to hear the sad tale of Rhoda Derry. But before we begin, I must give you a warning. You are about to hear a horrible tale that includes neglect, self harm, and abuse. Listener discretion is advised.
