Rewiring Your Brain for Mental Health with Dr. Rick Hanson

Published: Jan. 14, 2020, 8 a.m.

Can you teach yourself to heal? How much power do we really have over our brains and can we truly experience long lasting change? This week I had the incredible honor of connecting with psychologist and New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Rick Hanson.

After reading his books, listening to his amazing podcast, and watching his talks I reached out to Dr. Hanson to see if he would be willing to come on the show and share with us about his research around the power of our minds and how we can be more active in our own change. In this interview, we talk about the “brain-change” process and how powerful the role of learning is in our lives.

Dr. Hanson says that we are “all scientists” and gives us a step-by-step process of things we can do TODAY to experience better mental health. He encourages us that each day is a gift and we can continually learn and grow and become better versions of ourselves through two simple steps. He says that learning is a power but knowing HOW to learn is a “super power”.

We also dig into being compassionate to yourself and he gives fantastic advice to those who are deeply struggling with mental illness and what they can do with this brain-change process while experiencing symptoms. This is such a powerful conversation that is jam-packed full of helpful advice and empowering research around our mental health.

We would love to hear from you! What do you think about Dr. Hanson’s research? What can you implement? Head over to our private Facebook community, Hope to Recharge. We would love to hear your thoughts and support you in your mental health journey! Because as always, together is better.
