Gratitude During Tragedy: The Loss of Kobe (Attitude of Gratitude)

Published: Jan. 30, 2020, 8 a.m.

We lost a giant this week. The loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and the other passengers was a trauma that we collectively experienced. Many of us did not know him personally, however we felt as though we did because of the impact that he made on our lives.

My son asked me an important question. I was in the middle of my “Smile for the Day” and he asked, “How can we smile during such a tragedy?” I am incredibly grateful he brought this question up because it is one we must ask ourselves. How can we find light in the midst of dark times? How do we hold space for loss while still continuing our life with gratitude?

Life moves so fast. We are not guaranteed another day. That is why it is so important to live a life of intention and walk in gratitude for the moment. Let’s show up with gratitude in honor of Kobe. Let us continue in our missions, because I truly believe that is what he would have wanted. Every moment is a gift, let us be grateful for that gift.

We would love to hear from you! How did you process through the events this week? What role can gratitude play in pain and tragedy? Connect with us in our private Facebook group: Hope to Recharge, because as always...together is better!
